About the Role
An inclusive and forward-thinking primary school in Stratford, East London , is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to join their team on a full-time basis. The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers, the SENCO, and external professionals to support pupils both academically and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:
Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEN
Supporting children with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and communication needs
Assisting pupils with emotional regulation, social interaction, and behaviour management
Working alongside the class teacher to adapt lesson materials to meet individual learning needs
Supporting pupils during lessons, break times, and transitions
Implementing strategies outlined in Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
Recording progress and feeding back to teachers and SEN staff
Encouraging independence, confidence, and positive self-esteem
Supporting personal care where required, always maintaining dignity and respect
Creating a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
The Ideal Candidate
The school is looking for an SEN Teaching Assistant who is:
Passionate about working with children with special educational needs
Patient, empathetic, and resilient
Able to build strong, positive relationships with pupils and staff
Experienced working with SEN pupils (school, care, or youth work experience welcomed)
Confident managing challenging behaviour using positive strategies
Flexible and proactive in adapting to pupils’ needs
A strong communicator with good teamwork skills
Committed to safeguarding and child welfare
Previous experience in an SEN school, mainstream school, or care setting is highly desirable, but graduates or career changers with the right attitude are encouraged to apply .
