Junior Product Manager
A unique opportunity to help develop an industry-leading, SaaS artificial intelligence product in the legal sector, solving real life problems
Working with our Snr PM’s, Product Designers and Engineers, you will be responsible for delivering across various user flows, including ‘ease of use’
This requires a risk-taking, creative and ‘out of the box’ thinker to transgress limits we see set across the legaltech industry
Your purpose in our mission
We’ve raised $17.8 million in Series A funding led by Google Ventures and joined by Khosla Ventures. They believe in our vision that the law should be accessible to everyone. Working with our customers to define and refine product features, we need your skills to push the boundaries of what is possible in law.
Your manager and team
Our org structure is composed of cross-functional teams, each with a distinct area of focus to keep us all working on the most impactful things for our customers all of the time. Some of our team members work across multiple pods. Our structure was conceived with impact, autonomy and velocity in mind and we'd love to share more with you throughout our interview process. Your manager, Rafie Faruq (Co-Founder & CEO), will develop your skills and enable you to deliver on the project mission.
This is what you’ll be doing
This is an exciting opportunity to help develop an industry-leading, SaaS artificial intelligence product in the legal sector, which requires a risk-taking, creative and “out of the box” thinker to push the boundaries of what is possible in law, service-enabled SaaS and machine learning. Working with our CTO, CEO, product design team, ML Research Scientists and a robust engineering team, you will be responsible for innovating and delivering across user flows, including:-
Collaborate with customers to define and refine product features
Support our Product Marketing Lead, Cat in shaping user personas and quantifying buyer personas
Work closely with the design team to iterate on concepts, wireframes, and prototypes
Write clear user stories and contribute to defining and maintaining the product roadmap
Operate within Agile/Scrum frameworks, applying the Jobs To Be Done methodology.
Coordinate regular product release cycles in line with company strategy
Triage user-reported bugs and help prioritise feature development
Conduct customer interviews to ensure a user-centric approach to product development
Define and track metrics to measure product success, product-market fit, user satisfaction, and ROI
Leverage generative AI and agentic AI tools to accelerate workflows with a view to ‘verticalise’ more ie do more of the designer and engineer role in addition to traditional PM responsibilities
Balance iterative improvements with bold, disruptive product innovations
This is how we’ll set you up for success and the outcomes we expect from you
Over your first 90 days you can expect us to help point you in the right direction to set you up for success. During the interview process we can talk you through a high level overview of your 90 day plan.
By the end of your first three months we expect you to be:
Month 1 – Foundations
Build a strong understanding of the legal market, our product, and core workflows
Learn how our engineering processes operate
Begin reviewing and providing input on existing projects and features
Get set up to conduct regular user research (both quantitative and qualitative)
Shadow, learn, and train alongside our senior team members, Rafie & Nitish
Month 2 – Contributing Impact
Start taking ownership of product features, contributing to initiatives that drive company metrics and strategic goals
Apply insights from user research to inform product decisions
Continue developing fluency in our product, workflows, and domain expertise
Month 3 – Building & Executing
Balance learning from Senior PMs with independently building smaller, user-focused features
Execute on founder vision and Senior PM guidance
Support project management efforts by helping address goals, risks, and alignment across engineering
Demonstrate growing confidence in delivering features that add measurable value
We’ll continually develop and measure success on the below criteria:
Contributing to the achievement of our overall company goal
Taking ownership of and delivering on at least one key company driver
Driving growth through increased Pro Plan sign-ups and adoption
We are a startup in an exceptionally dynamic stage of our growth. We are a customer and employee led organisation. What this means is that we adapt to our customers' needs, and the problems we’re solving today could be very different in six months, or even by the end of this recruitment process. We also listen to our team as we empower you to have autonomy of your role - you're the expert. You should expect to work with us on how your role develops, grows and changes throughout your time at Genie.
It can be tough here because
We don’t structure your work for you. We give the team the what and the whole team comes up with the how
We don’t try to get things perfect the first time. We get things to good enough, and then we continuously iterate
We are inventing a new product, so you’ll be involved in the product refinement sessions
But we think you’ll love
The autonomy and trust we give you to deliver your best work
Learning from some of the brightest minds in the field of AI
The exhilaration of a fast pace start up
The skills you need to succeed in this role
Experience contributing to the growth of a market-leading SaaS product
Proven involvement in creating realistic product roadmaps that align with engineering teams and deliver on deadlines
Strong technical literacy in software engineering principles. While you don’t need to code at an engineer’s level, you can dig into the details and spot technical issues early
Sharp attention to detail with a nuanced understanding of UX/UI design principles
Skilled at conducting user interviews and gathering unbiased feedback, with the ability to uncover user needs and pain points
Solid grasp of the “Jobs To Be Done” framework
Resilience and adaptability, with lessons learned from past product setbacks and challenges
Clear and confident communicator, able to articulate ideas and align diverse stakeholders
Curiosity and drive for self-development, perhaps inspired by books like The Mom Test
Bonus: experience building communities, platforms, marketplaces, or working with deep tech products
(Don’t worry about ticking every single box on the list to be considered for this role.)
Unleash your magic: our interview process
Step 1: Meet our Head of Talent Acquisition, Charlette, to assess your motivations and baseline technical skills
Step 2: Complete our take home task
Step 3: Meet our Co-Founder & CEO Rafie Faruq and our Co-Founder & CTO, Nitish Mutha to assess your Product Management skills
Step 4: Culture interview with Daniele Tassone, our Technical Director (Product Engineering), and Rosie Dent-Spargo (our Lead Product Designer)
Step 5: For Lead level roles and above, we collect blind references to set you up for success. These insights help us ensure a smooth transition into our team and foster meaningful collaboration between you and your manager from day one.
We can’t wait to meet you! Bring your authentic self, and get ready to explore our culture, team events, and big mission. We're excited to discover what makes you and us unique.
