Family Liaison Officer Role in a Foundation School
A supportive and well-established Foundation School in Wandsworth is seeking to appoint a compassionate and proactive Family Liaison Officer to join its pastoral team from September. This is a full-time opportunity within a school that places a strong emphasis on inclusion, safeguarding, attendance, and building effective partnerships with families.

About the Role
As Family Liaison Officer, you will act as a key point of contact for parents and carers, working closely with students, pastoral leaders, safeguarding staff, and external agencies to identify and address barriers to learning.
You will support families with attendance, punctuality, behaviour, wellbeing, and safeguarding concerns, while helping to strengthen parental engagement and promote positive outcomes for pupils.
This is an important pastoral role suited to someone with excellent communication skills, emotional intelligence, and a strong commitment to supporting children and families in a school setting.
Key Responsibilities
Build strong and supportive relationships with families, students, and staff
Act as a key contact for parents and carers, offering guidance and support where needed
Work with pastoral and safeguarding teams to identify concerns and coordinate interventions
Support improvements in attendance, punctuality, behaviour, and student wellbeing
Liaise with external agencies and support services to access appropriate help for families
Attend meetings, home visits, and multi-agency discussions as required
Maintain accurate, confidential records of communication and interventions
Promote positive parental engagement and strengthen home-school relationships

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Experience working with children, young people, or families in an educational or community setting
Strong understanding of safeguarding, attendance, and pastoral support
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills
Ability to build trust with families and respond sensitively to a range of needs
Ability to maintain accurate records and manage confidential information appropriately
Desirable
Experience in a Family Liaison, Pastoral, Safeguarding, or Attendance role
Experience working with external agencies and multi-agency teams
Understanding of barriers to learning and strategies to improve family engagement
Commitment to inclusion, early intervention, and student wellbeing
