Rate: £25–£32 per hour
Working Hours: Full-time or Part-time
Contract Length: 3 months (with potential to extend)
Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) to join an acute inpatient service in a West London hospital. This is a locum position ideal for a Band 6 or Band 7 therapist with strong clinical skills in acute adult care.
You will work closely with the multidisciplinary team to assess, diagnose, and manage communication and swallowing disorders for patients with a range of medical and neurological conditions. The successful candidate should be prepared to begin as soon as possible , with the assignment expected to last 2–3 months , with the possibility of extension. Availability over the Christmas period (excluding Bank Holidays) is desirable.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
Provide assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for adults with communication and swallowing difficulties in an acute inpatient setting.
Manage a varied caseload involving complex medical and neurological presentations.
Deliver evidence-based interventions and make appropriate recommendations to the wider clinical team.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical documentation in line with professional and service standards.
Participate in MDT meetings, ward rounds, and discharge planning.
Contribute to high-quality patient care within a fast-paced acute environment.
Qualifications and Experience
To be considered for this role, you must have:
A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).
HCPC registration and eligibility for Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT) membership.
Experience working in an acute adult setting , ideally managing dysphagia caseloads.
Strong clinical reasoning, communication, and organisational skills.
The ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
