Are you an experienced VAT specialist looking for an opportunity to lead, develop and shape a VAT advisory offering within an established accountancy practice?

We are working with a highly regarded, multi-office accountancy firm seeking a commercially minded VAT Senior Manager to take ownership of its VAT advisory services. This is a predominantly client-facing position, offering considerable autonomy, technical variety and the opportunity to influence the continued growth of the practice.

Working alongside experienced tax professionals and partners, you will provide specialist advice to a diverse client portfolio while developing relationships and identifying new business opportunities.

The Role

• Lead and develop the firm's VAT advisory offering across four offices.
• Provide commercially focused advice on complex UK and international VAT matters.
• Advise on VAT groupings, partial exemption, land and property transactions, and business restructuring.
• Support corporate transactions, including VAT due diligence, transaction structuring and transfers of going concerns.
• Advise on cross-border VAT, international services and supply chain arrangements.
• Manage HMRC enquiries, voluntary disclosures and technical disputes.
• Identify VAT risks, recovery opportunities and improvements through strategic VAT reviews.
• Collaborate with Corporate Tax, Audit and Corporate Finance teams to develop advisory opportunities.
• Mentor colleagues and oversee complex, high-value VAT compliance matters.

About You

You will bring substantial VAT advisory experience gained within accountancy practice, HMRC or a comparable professional environment.

You should demonstrate excellent technical knowledge, strong client relationship management skills and the confidence to lead complex advisory projects independently.

A CTA or recognised indirect tax qualification would be advantageous, alongside experience of business development and international VAT.
