Commodity / Category Manager
- The Commodity Manager will be responsible for activities relating to Spire's sourcing needs, predominantly in Electro-Mechanical components, with ad-hoc support to other commodity tasks.
- Define and execute the strategy for your commodity including market analysis, cost management, technology road map and vendor selection.
- Investigating the needs of our business through cross functional collaboration.
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) projects.
- Manage risks including supplier capacity, lead times, commercial volatility and quality.
- Build excellent relationships with, and interrogate, our existing supply base to understand their capabilities, dependencies, gaps and ability to grow with us.
- Proactively research and engage with potential new suppliers from initial introduction, capability analysis, commercial suitability and on-boarding.
- Prepare and lead internal meetings to communicate our strategy.
- Seek every opportunity for cost savings while maintaining first class service levels, technical compliance and quality standards.
- Responsible for vendor performance management in related commodity, along with scheduling, preparing and conducting Supplier Business Reviews.
- Support the wider Procurement team to manage department workload as necessary. Preferred Skills/Experience
- Commodity Management / Procurement Strategy experience is essential.
- Knowledge of Electro-Mechanical components is preferred but not essential.
- Demonstrated experience of developing and executing commodity strategies.
- Risk management skills with ability to assess and mitigate risks within the supply chain.
- Excellent negotiation and contract management skills.
- Experience of the Space Industry or AS9100 accreditation is a significant advantage.
- Robust working knowledge of all Purchasing related activities and processes.
- Professional communication, both written & verbal.
- Competent in MS Office, including Word, Excel & Power Point.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and confidence to communicate at all levels.
