About Us
The London Clinic is one of the UK's largest independent charitable hospitals, established in 1932. We employ more than 1,300 staff across clinical and non-clinical departments, supporting patients from around the world. Our services are delivered across eight sites in and around the Harley Street district, including our award-winning Cancer Centre.
We are proud to provide access to expert consultants and advanced facilities, including 10 theatres, 13 intensive care beds and a broad range of diagnostic and treatment services. Our people are at the heart of what we do, and we are committed to developing careers and creating an inclusive, supportive culture.
As a charity, we reinvest income into improving services, introducing new technology, and supporting research and innovation. Guided by our values of going further, working as one and personalising care, we are committed to delivering the very best outcomes for both patients and staff.
The Role
We are looking for a forward-thinking Workforce Planning Lead to transform how we manage e-rostering and temporary staffing across the hospital. You will lead the optimisation of the HealthRoster system, working with managers, HR and Finance to ensure staffing is efficient, sustainable and aligned to demand.
This is a chance to make a real impact by improving roster quality, providing powerful workforce insights, and embedding stronger controls on flexible staffing. You will also build capability across the organisation by training and upskilling roster leads, creating a consistent and modern approach to workforce planning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead workforce deployment to align rosters with establishment levels and financial controls, so staffing is safe, efficient and within budget
- Implement and optimise HealthRoster and SafeCare across all departments, so rosters are accurate, timely and consistently applied
- Monitor and manage flexible staffing (bank and agency), so reliance on agency is reduced, bank usage is maximised and compliance is maintained
- Produce workforce reports and forecasts, so leaders have clear insights to make informed decisions and manage risks effectively
- Deliver training and guidance to roster leads and managers, so capability improves and consistent workforce planning is embedded across the hospital
- Drive continuous improvement in workforce systems and processes, so the hospital achieves greater efficiency, transparency and control
Key Requirements:
- Experience implementing and optimising an e-rostering system, ensuring hospital-wide adoption and consistent use
- Proven ability to manage a temporary staffing function to deliver a flexible, compliant and cost-effective service
- Strong knowledge of workforce planning and establishment control to balance safety with financial efficiency
- Skilled in analysing workforce data and turning insights into clear, practical solutions
- Ability to produce accurate, easy-to-understand workforce reports for managers and senior leaders
- Confident in guiding and challenging managers on rota planning, staffing resources and use of headroo
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to navigate challenging conversations and influence senior stakeholders
Benefits
We offer a range of benefits including flexible working and great career opportunities. Our core benefits are:
- Private Medical Insurance
- Contributory pension scheme (total contribution up to 20%)
- 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
- Life assurance
- Travel season ticket loan
- Family friendly benefits
- A range of retail discounts
- Excellent career development; with clear career pathways and access to further education.
