About the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day management and upkeep of the school site, ensuring the premises remain safe, secure, and well maintained.
Working closely with the School Business Manager and senior leadership team, you will carry out general maintenance duties, complete health and safety checks, manage site security, liaise with contractors, and support the operational needs of the school.
This role requires a practical, organised, and dependable individual who can take ownership of the site and contribute to maintaining excellent standards.
Key Responsibilities
Open and close the school site safely and securely
Carry out routine maintenance and minor repairs
Ensure buildings and grounds are clean, safe, and well maintained
Complete health and safety checks and compliance tasks
Monitor heating, lighting, and site systems
Liaise with contractors and oversee maintenance visits
Assist with room setups for school events and activities
Maintain a safe and welcoming environment for pupils and staff

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Previous experience in caretaking, maintenance, premises, or facilities
Practical DIY and building maintenance skills
Good understanding of health and safety procedures
Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities
Reliable, proactive, and able to work independently
Desirable
Experience working in a school or education setting
Knowledge of safeguarding and site security procedures
Health and safety qualification such as IOSH or equivalent
Experience managing contractors and maintenance schedules
