A Leading Education Recruitment Agency is working in partnership with a number of mainstream schools, SEMH provisions, and alternative education settings in Acton to recruit committed and resilient Behaviour Mentors . These schools support pupils who present with challenging behaviour, emotional regulation difficulties, trauma-related needs, and social communication challenges , and they are seeking professionals who can provide consistent, calm, and structured support.

The Role

As a Behaviour Mentor in Acton, you will work closely with pupils who struggle to engage with education due to SEMH needs, behavioural difficulties, adverse childhood experiences, or unmet SEN . Many pupils require support with emotional regulation, boundaries, routines, and positive decision-making. Your role will be pivotal in helping pupils remain in education and develop the skills needed to succeed both academically and socially.

You may work 1:1 with a specific pupil , support small groups , or work across a class or year group. Some roles involve supporting pupils during transitions, break times, or high-risk periods , where behaviour incidents are more likely to occur.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide consistent, structured behaviour support in line with individual behaviour plans

  • Support pupils to regulate emotions and manage challenging behaviour positively

  • Use de-escalation strategies and restorative approaches

  • Build trusting, professional relationships with pupils

  • Act as a positive role model, promoting boundaries and expectations

  • Support pupils’ engagement with learning and school routines

  • Liaise with teachers, SENCOs, pastoral teams, and external professionals

  • Record and report behaviour incidents accurately

  • Uphold safeguarding and behaviour policies at all times

Ideal Candidate

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH or behaviour needs

  • Backgrounds in youth work, care, mentoring, education, or psychology welcomed

  • Calm, resilient, and emotionally intelligent

  • Confident managing challenging behaviour

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Enhanced DBS or willingness to apply
