Principal Architect

Technical Architect | Hertfordshire | £65k - £80k

We're partnering with a university who are after an architect to provide architectural leadership and direction across all technology domains. Good opportunity to define and deliver architectural impact at institutional level, influencing how technology supports a reimagined model of higher education.

Salary: £65,000 - £80,000

Location: Hybrid

Reporting to: CIO

Benefits: 30 days annual leave, + bank holidays and 2 weeks Christmas closure days

The organisation continues on an ambitious journey of transformation, reimagining how education is delivered, how students experience learning, and how technology empowers their entire community.

The architect will take a strategic and hands-on role in shaping the University's digital and enterprise architecture landscape.

This includes building relationships across the organisation, defining the future technology landscape, developing roadmaps, establishing governance processes, and ensuring technology solutions align with institutional strategy and "cloud-first" principles.

About you

We're looking for a seasoned or upcoming architect with both the strategic vision and the technical depth to make a real difference.

You'll bring:

• Proven experience developing and implementing enterprise and solution architectures across complex organisations
• Strong capability in defining technology roadmaps and guiding transitions to cloud or SaaS-based systems
• A collaborative, consultative approach, able to influence and engage at all levels - from technical experts to executive leadership
• Solid understanding of data security, privacy regulations (including GDPR), and architectural governance best practice
• A genuine passion for how technology can transform experiences and outcomes
