Vision Scientist (Ophthalmic Imaging)
- At a wider level the individual will participate in team discussions, weekly teaching sessions, and adhere to local/national protocols to maintain imaging quality and contribute toward departmental accreditation (IQIPs) alongside maintaining their own CPD. The department is research active and contribution to research or clinical trial datasets is part of this role.
- To participate in the routine delivery of the GOSH Ophthalmic Imaging service on a day-to-day basis
- To be able to perform basic diagnostic ophthalmic imaging assessments on children of all ages (commonly Optos wide-field imaging, Spectralis OCT scans, Fundus photography) to a high quality
- To be able to perform, following training, more complex ophthalmic imaging assessment (FFA/ICG imaging, B-scan ultrasound, handheld-OCT or OCT in theatre) under supervision until deemed competent
- To be responsible for maintaining and updating clinical, audit and research databases and collation of relevant activity data as needed
- To maintain a clean, tidy and organised work environment within the imaging workspace
- To be responsible for day-to-day maintenance of the ophthalmic imaging areas and arranging appropriate cleaning in line with infection control procedure

- Extensive experience of Ophthalmic care or at least 1 A-level in a science subject grade C or above
- Registration with Health Professions Council / RCCP (or working towards registration
- Specialist qualifications or accreditation in Ophthalmic Imaging
- Experience with ophthalmic imaging equipment and image acquisition (including processing)
- Knowledge of health service practices and understanding of clinical governanceEA/I

- Experience of clinical audit/research
- Understanding of ophthalmic anatomy, physiology and principles of ophthalmic imaging
