Senior Product Designer
About the role: We’re looking for a passionate, curious and driven Senior Product Designer to join our multidisciplinary team. As a Product designer at one of the world's largest supermarkets, you’ll be shaping experiences that help millions of people shop better. If you choose to join our business, we will provide you with (for all): Up to 20% yearly salary bonus - based on both individual and business performance Sick leave Compensation 1 extra week of annual leave above your legal entitlement of 4 weeks of annual leave of paid leave to support your well-being and family life Pension insurance contribution Cafeteria benefit system & Multisport card Training and Development Plan, supported by certified training and learning platforms like Udemy, Udemy Pro and LinkedIn Referral Bonus Flexible work time You will be responsible for: Design large and small projects from start to finish, redefining complicated experiences into simple and intuitive solutions Own all end-to-end UX and UI process activities, including design discovery, running design sprints, sketching, wire-framing, low-fidelity prototyping and service/customer mapping Identifying trends and critically analysing their viability and delivering ready for build design files Champion human-centred design inside and outside of your team Work within and across agile squads to design, develop and improve the customer experience across our digital products Partner with UX researchers to help your team develop empathy for our customers, including those with a disability, and advocate for their needs, validating designs via A/B testing, unmoderated, usability testing and more Use quantitative data and partner with the analytics team to help inform your work Work closely with engineering teams to understand feasibility of design ideas and ensure review of design implementation at key stages of the development cycle Collaborate with different disciplines across Central Europe and UK including designers, researchers, engineers, UX writers, service designers, product managers, data analysts, and business stakeholders to explore, build and deliver designs Facilitate partner (business and user) workshops, run appropriate conceptualisation and participatory design sessions Promote inclusive design practices and deliver accessible designs Deliver valuable, high-quality and consistent work without sacrificing speed by using our Digital Design System and its standardised foundations, components, and patterns Collaborate with the Design System team to help evolve the Design System based on user needs Continuously seek to improve design processes inside and outside of your team to gain efficiency, remove obstacles and simplify workflows Help other disciplines understand the value design can bring to a project to build the best products Provide feedback to other designers to help strengthen your team and Tesco as a whole Help your teammates build experience, strong decision-making skills and empathy for our customers Work with the Design Manager to cultivate a positive, supportive, and inclusive team culture You will need: A strong, well-curated portfolio demonstrating your expertise across web, responsive and native apps Strong experience in high-profile design projects in a customer-facing commercial environment Passion for solving product problems while balancing all facets of a user experience, including strategy and research, information architecture, interaction design and accessibility A good understanding of the end-to-end iterative design process including how to develop and use design research, journey mapping, wire-framing, prototyping and user testing to achieve human-centred design solutions Proficiency in interaction design for web (desktop and mobile) and native applications Experience of designing with accessibility in mind and meeting WCAG 2.1 level AA Experience collaborating closely with multiple disciplines including product and engineering Self-motivation and good organisational and time-management skills Strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to present to all levels of seniority and subject area experts within the organisation The ability to coach, mentor and set standards for ways of working for more junior team members Proficiency with current industry design and collaboration tools, such as Figma and Miro Previous experience in the retail sector is an advantage Ability to speak fluently Czech/Slovak and English Tesco Technology was established in Prague to support Tesco’s retail business in Central Europe and across the Tesco Group.
