Midday Meals Supervisor | Southwark
A welcoming primary school in Southwark is seeking a reliable and caring Midday Meals Supervisor to join the team from January 2026. The Midday Meals Supervisor will organise and supervise lunchtimes, ensure safe mealtime behaviour, support pupils with dietary needs and create a calm dining environment. This Midday Meals Supervisor post in Southwark starts January 2026, with induction and handover sessions arranged before January 2026 so the Midday Meals Supervisor can be fully prepared for the spring term.

The appointed Midday Meals Supervisor will supervise dining areas, encourage positive social skills, follow hygiene and safety procedures and assist with clearing and basic cleaning tasks. As Midday Meals Supervisor you will support pupils who need extra help at lunchtime, communicate concerns to senior staff and ensure inclusive lunchtime provision across the Southwark site. Working in Southwark, the Midday Meals Supervisor will be part of a supportive team committed to pupil wellbeing.
Responsibilities
- Supervise pupils during lunch to maintain calm, safe and orderly dining routines.
- Support pupils with special dietary or medical requirements and follow school procedures.
- Encourage positive social interaction, model table manners and support lunchtime play.
- Assist with basic clearing, tidy-up and hygiene checks in the dining area.
- Report any safeguarding or welfare concerns promptly to senior staff in Southwark.
Person specification
- Experience working with children in a school, childcare or community setting; confident supervising groups as a Midday Meals Supervisor.
- Patient, reliable and able to manage mealtime routines with consistent behaviour approaches in Southwark.
- Good communication skills for liaising with pupils, staff and kitchen teams.
- Available to begin January 2026 and to attend induction and handover before January 2026.
