Biology Teacher

You would be joining a well-established Science department where Biology is taught through a combination of strong scientific knowledge, practical investigation and real-world application.

The department aims to develop students who are curious about the living world and confident in applying scientific principles to unfamiliar situations. Students are encouraged to ask questions, evaluate evidence and understand the relevance of Biology to everyday life and future careers.

At Key Stage 3, students develop their understanding of cells, reproduction, ecosystems, health and the wider principles of Biology. At GCSE, students progress to more detailed areas including cell biology, organisation, infection and response, bioenergetics, homeostasis, inheritance, ecology and variation.

A-Level students are challenged further through advanced biological concepts, practical investigations and independent study. The course provides a strong foundation for students considering university courses and careers in Medicine, Veterinary Science, Biomedical Science, Environmental Science and related fields.

The department benefits from well-equipped laboratories and strong technical support, allowing practical work to form an important part of the curriculum. Students also have opportunities to take part in STEM activities, science clubs, competitions, university outreach and educational visits.

The successful teacher will join a collaborative department where colleagues share resources, discuss assessment and work together to improve outcomes. The school provides excellent CPD, an established ECT programme and opportunities for experienced teachers to take on additional responsibilities.

Biology Teacher - Experience and Qualifications

• Biology Degree

• QTS

• Experience teaching Biology at secondary level

• Strong practical and theoretical subject knowledge

• GCSE Biology experience essential

• A-Level Biology experience desirable

• Excellent classroom management skills

• Strong communication and organisational abilities

• Commitment to student achievement and inclusion

Salary

The salary for this Biology Teacher position will be paid to scale on a contract to scale MPS/UPS.
