Purpose of the Role
The successful and safe delivery of the programmed work / transit shift of Rail Grinders, Rail Milling and Tampers. Being competent to drive both types of C21 & C44 Rail Grinders and Rail Milling Machine. In addition, you would also be trained to drive other types of OTM plant
Key Responsibilities
- Driving and route conducting the machines safely and effectively
- Reporting any machine defects to Grinding Supervisor and/or Maintenance Supervisor, where appropriate.
- To work safely and effectively to Colas Rail Services Operations procedures.
- Assist as required
- To prepare and carryout safety inspections on plant before train enters service
- Assist in maintaining quality systems, and stabling database by continually monitoring, reviewing, and making recommendations for updating as required
- Required undertake route learning / refreshing as and when required. Must maintain and work towards expanding route knowledge base.
- Will be required to drive all other OTM’s such as Rail Milling Machine and Tampers
- Required to keep all routes current via the Colas Rail route app
- Report any issues in real time to Colas control
- Compile detailed reports/statements to any incidents or accidents immediately
- Must be flexible due to the nature of the operations
- As you will expect the organisation may change from time to time and you will be expected to meet the operational requirements.
- Any other reasonable duties as required from time to time.

• Close Calls and safety conversations submitted as per procedure
