Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Associate Advisor Call Out - EDI Data Collection Brief
Description
Associate Advisors Call Out
Crafts Council seeks expressions of interest from experienced equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) focussed consultant/s (individuals and organisations) to support our EDI focussed planning, delivery and review activity linked to our EDI strategy and action plan and day to day work.
This specific brief is for a facilitator to lead a staff workshop and support the writing of an EDI data collection policy for the Crafts Council.
About the Brief
Across our organisational strategy and specific action plans, we have commitments to improve how we collect and use data in order to be effective at capturing, understanding and using data whilst being able to demonstrate our activities and opportunities are accessible to a wider audience.
We can only know if we are making progress if we have robust data as evidence. This data will inform future planning and demonstrate to funders and stakeholders that our work is reaching the widest audience.
Not having this data and being able to present the data effectively becomes a barrier to securing funding and reaching our organisational objectives.
This data we seek to capture across projects, and find the best way to share, is likely to link to sensitive, personal information and therefore goes beyond the breadth of data we currently collect.
For this reason, we must agree collectively:
- Exactly what types of data we must collect and why.
- When is it appropriate for captured information to be attributable to individuals and when we should collect anonymized data with the purpose of proving our case regarding strategic objectives.
- How we will use that data to deliver our programme objectives, whilst ensuring we only capture, keep and share data that is genuinely needed.
- The most appropriate process of collecting data; being sensitive in our approach and agreeing who the data processors will be.
- As above, confirming who needs access and what additional security steps are required to ensure data held is safe.
- How long we should keep information for, with a robust approach to deleting data.
- The required steps to ensure that ALL staff are compliant.
We are looking for a consultant to devise and lead a staff workshop/s to work through these elements so that a policy can be co-created. All relevant staff will be invited to join and will acknowledge that compromise will be needed to reach a consensus.
