Cross-Functional Design Programme Manager

We’re currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Cross-Functional Design Programme Manager. This role will be based out of London.
This role will lead the end-to-end delivery of cross-functional design programmes within Global Payments Solutions (GPS), aligning Product, Technology, Operations, Risk, Compliance, Data, and Architecture to deliver customer-centred, controlled outcomes. You will establish clear governance, manage dependencies and decisions, and use responsible AI and automation to improve speed, efficiency, and operational performance.

In this role you’ll:
- Own programme scope, plans, milestones, dependencies, resources, risks, and outcomes
- Set governance, decision rights, escalation routes, and delivery standards aligned to strategy, customer needs, regulation, and controls
- Coordinate cross-functional delivery from discovery to implementation, resolving dependencies and maintaining momentum
- Provide decision-ready reporting and recommendations to sponsors and senior stakeholders
- Build trusted relationships across business, technology, operations, risk, data, and architecture
- Drive timely decisions, resolve trade-offs, and create shared accountability across workstreams
- Communicate clearly with executive, delivery, and specialist audiences
- Track KPIs, benefits, milestones, risks, issues, decisions, and design quality
- Identify delivery constraints early and drive corrective action across workstreams
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
- Proven delivery of complex cross-functional design or transformation programmes in financial services, ideally payments or transaction banking
- Strong programme management across planning, governance, dependencies, risk, reporting, and benefits realisation
- Ability to integrate customer, business, operational, technology, data, architecture, and control perspectives into end-to-end designs
- Strong understanding of payments, customer journeys, operating models, Business architecture and regulation
- Excellent senior stakeholder management, facilitation, influencing, and decision-making skills
- Ability to simplify complexity, manage ambiguity, and lead multidisciplinary teams through change
- Good understanding shaping responsible AI or automation opportunities
London office relocation: Between January and April 2027, many office-based HSBC employees in London will move from either 8 Canada Square or Queen Victoria Street to one of our new sites at St. Paul’s or Canary Wharf. Depending on when they join, successful candidates may start at an existing office before moving or join directly at a new location. The specific location cannot be confirmed at advert stage and will be discussed during the recruitment process. This does not apply to branch-based or HSBC Innovation Bank roles.
