PMLD Teaching Assistant - Specialist SEND School

Location: Croydon, South London
Pay: 90.00 - 95.00 per day
Contract: Full-time, term time
Start: ASAP / September 2026

NextGen Teachers are looking for a PMLD Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEND school in Croydon, supporting pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD), complex needs and physical disabilities .

Pupils include non-verbal children and young people and wheelchair users , with a high staff-to-pupil ratio and a strong team of teachers, TAs and specialist professionals.

The Role

You will:

• Support pupils with PMLD and complex learning needs

• Work with non-verbal pupils and wheelchair users

• Support communication, sensory activities and learning

• Provide personal and intimate care

• Support PEG/gastrostomy feeding following appropriate training and individual care plans

• Assist with moving and handling where required

• Work closely with teachers, therapists and other support staff

This is a hands-on care and education role , so you must be comfortable supporting pupils with personal care and complex physical needs.

Who We're Looking For

Experience within PMLD, SEND, care, healthcare, support work or residential care would be particularly relevant, although full training can be provided.

We're looking for someone who is caring, patient, reliable and genuinely interested in supporting pupils with complex needs .
