Event Technician

Job Summary
Join our innovative team at Advanced Systems Group, where your technical expertise brings live, virtual, and hybrid events to life in the heart of London. As an Event Technician , you’ll play a pivotal role in the planning, coordination, and seamless execution of world-class events across our vibrant event campus.
Please note that this full-time role is required to work on-site at our client's studio located in central London, 5 days/week.
About the Role
Event Delivery
Operate live video systems, including source switching, PTZ cameras and control systems, video switchers, presentation systems, streaming platforms, and confidence monitors
Deliver in-person, virtual, and hybrid events per approved technical requirements and Technical Run of Show (TROS)
Mix live audio and manage signal routing through hardware mixers, DSP/control systems, and venue infrastructure
Support remote presenters, C-suite/VIP speakers, and event stakeholders with technical onboarding and endpoint management
Configure and quality-check assets using Keynote, Google Slides, and PowerPoint
Set up redundancy and contingency workflows, troubleshoot technical issues, and support all phases of event production
Deputise for the Venue Manager as needed
Venue Systems & Maintenance
Operate, maintain, and ensure technical readiness of production systems at the London event campus
Assist with integration, commissioning, testing, and handover of audio, video, lighting, camera, streaming, control, and display systems
Maintain/troubleshoot systems: Ross, SSL, Analog Way, Disguise, Shure, grandMA, Apple, Adder KVM, Crestron, LED video walls, and related infrastructure
Perform low-voltage cabling, patching, labeling, preventive maintenance, and backup setup
Identify and escalate technical risks, and apply safety/industry standards
Present innovation opportunities to optimise AV operations and event experiences
Planning, Documentation & Coverage
Review technical requirements, schedules, TROS, floor plans, signal flows, and production assets prior to events
Keep accurate event records, customer communications, and asset info updated in Jira
Create and maintain as-built documentation, user guides, checklists, signal flows, and SOPs
Contribute to technical training, post-event reporting, inventory management, knowledge sharing, and service improvement
Support root-cause analysis, corrective actions, resource reporting, and team coverage needs
What We’re Looking For
Deep understanding of audio, video, and lighting signal flow; practical experience in live event, broadcast, corporate, or venue production
Strong experience operating/troubleshooting video conferencing, streaming, audio, video, camera, lighting, and control systems
Ability to interpret TROS, signal flows, floor plans, equipment lists, and schedules
Calm, methodical approach to diagnosing issues in fast-paced live environments
Excellent customer service, documentation, organizational, and executive communication skills
Collaborative mindset, able to work independently and with diverse teams and stakeholders
Proficiency with Jira, Google Workspace (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides), macOS, and Windows
Willingness to work flexible hours for events, rehearsals, and system maintenance
Minimum Qualifications
4+ years technical production experience in live event, broadcast, venue, or corporate environments
2+ years technical customer support experience
Experience supporting live, virtual, or hybrid events from planning through completion
Demonstrable experience creating or maintaining technical documentation, user guides, checklists, or SOPs
Ability to work onsite in London five days per week and travel as required
Key Systems and Equipment
(Experience with all systems not required, but hands-on experience and willingness to learn are essential)
Event/Collaboration: Google Meet, Zoom, StreamShark, and similar platforms
Audio: SSL and Yamaha audio systems, Shure wireless microphones, Clear-Com or similar comms
Video: Ross, Analog Way, Disguise, vMix, Blackmagic Design, Quicklink, AJA, Panasonic PTZ cameras, NEC/Unilumin LED walls
Lighting: grandMA, Pharos, Astera, or similar lighting-control systems
Control: Ross Dashboard, Crestron, Adder KVM, and related control systems
Networking: Familiarity with basic networking, Dante, Art-Net, sACN in production environments
