Philosophy & Ethics Teacher – Independent Co-Educational School, Kingston

School Information

This well-established independent co-educational school in Kingston educates pupils aged 11–18 and is known for its academic rigour, strong pastoral care, and commitment to developing intellectually curious, reflective young people. The school offers a broad and challenging curriculum designed to encourage independent thought, articulate expression, and ethical awareness. Small class sizes allow teachers to build strong relationships with students and tailor teaching to individual needs.

The Humanities Faculty plays a central role in the school’s ethos, encouraging debate, discussion, and analytical thinking across disciplines. Staff work in a collaborative and respectful environment where professional development is prioritised and innovative teaching approaches are welcomed.

Role Information

The school is seeking a thoughtful and articulate Philosophy & Ethics Teacher to join the department as soon as possible. You will teach Philosophy and Ethics across KS4 and KS5, delivering lessons that encourage students to engage critically with philosophical ideas, ethical dilemmas, and contemporary moral issues.

The role involves planning and delivering intellectually stimulating lessons, guiding students through structured debate, and supporting them to develop strong written and verbal reasoning skills. You will contribute to curriculum development and may support enrichment activities such as philosophy clubs, lecture series, and inter-school debates.

Requirements

• QTS or equivalent teaching qualification
• A degree in Philosophy, Ethics, Theology, or a related discipline
• Experience teaching at GCSE and/or A Level
• Strong communication and discussion facilitation skills
• A genuine passion for philosophical inquiry

Application

To apply, please send your CV as soon as possible.
