As the first point of contact for parents, pupils, and visitors, you will play a vital role in creating a warm and professional atmosphere for the school.
The Role
Position: School Receptionist / Administrator
Location: Newham, East London
Start Date: As Soon As Possible (Immediate)
Contract: Full-Time, Term-Time Only (Permanent or Long-term Temp-to-Perm)
Hours: Typically 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Key Responsibilities
Front of House: Welcoming visitors, ensuring they are signed in correctly according to safeguarding/Safer Recruitment protocols.
Communication: Managing the school’s main telephone line and general email inbox, directing queries to the appropriate staff members.
Attendance: Monitoring pupil attendance and lateness using the school's database (SIMS or Arbor).
General Admin: Assisting with school letters, newsletters, and updating student records.
First Aid: Acting as a designated first aider (training provided) and managing minor student medical needs.
Candidate Requirements
Experience: Previous experience in a school office or a busy front-of-house/reception role is highly desirable.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in SIMS, Arbor, or ScholarPack is a significant advantage.
Traits: A calm, patient, and professional manner, especially during busy periods (drop-off and pick-up times).
Safeguarding: A strong understanding of safeguarding procedures in a school setting.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written English, with the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse school community.
