A forward-thinking specialist SEN school in Hackney is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Support Assistant to join their team from September 2025 . The school has an Outstanding reputation for providing tailored education and therapeutic interventions for pupils with autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health needs), and additional learning difficulties.

The Role – Behaviour Support Assistant:

As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will:

• Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with challenging behaviours.
• Implement behaviour support plans in collaboration with teachers and therapists.
• Help pupils regulate emotions, manage triggers, and build coping strategies.
• Create a safe, structured, and nurturing environment where students feel respected and supported.
• Assist with classroom activities, transitions, and structured play.
• Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff to monitor progress and celebrate success.

Ideal Candidate – Behaviour Support Assistant:

• A graduate (Psychology, Education, or related fields advantageous) OR experienced in behaviour/youth support.
• Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
• Empathy, patience, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Previous experience with SEN, SEMH, or youth mentoring is desirable but not essential.
• Must have the right to work in the UK (no sponsorship available).
