Part Time Nanny

My partner and I are looking for an experienced, kind, and nurturing part-time nanny for our 16-week-old baby. We would like someone creative and active who can take exceptional care of our smiley, inquisitive son. This role will suit a nanny who is passionate about babies, who loves playing and engaging with them, and also loves to support them in a gentle routine of naps and feeds throughout the day and will make sure our son doesn’t get over tired. We are down-to-earth, kind people (working in the creative and renewable energy sectors) and we are looking for someone who will fit into our family with similar values.

I am a breastfeeding mum and will generally be at home during the day. But due to other commitments, I need to free up some of my time to work on other things throughout the day, so I am looking for support with my baby.

We have transitioned away from a very helpful maternity nurse who has introduced our son to a gentle routine, and are now looking for daytime help only (with the occasional evening babysitting – which will be requested well in advance).

We would like our nanny to be totally trustworthy, easy to get along with, be collaborative and work in partnership with us, and also give us advice on working towards helping him sleep through the night. Eventually, we would like guidance on future milestones such as weaning. We are also looking for someone highly organised, with a ‘can-do’ attitude, reliable, a good communicator and emotionally intelligent.

It is very important to us that our nanny really engages with our son as a person, occupying him with interesting playtime, varied activities, reading, conversations, and daily walks exploring the outside world. We are also keen to find someone health-conscious so that when the time comes, they can prepare a variety of healthy, nutritious food for him.

Once per month, the role will include travel to the countryside in Lancashire where my family have a second home. You would travel there with us on the train and then return on your last day of work for that week (train tickets would be paid by us of course). Occasionally (i.e. once every 2-3 months), there will be overseas travel required as well, which will be planned for well in advance on a case-by-case basis.

It is essential you speak a fluent level of English, and a very big bonus if you speak Italian (but not detrimental if you do not).

REQUIREMENTS:
• Extensive experience as a maternity nurse or nanny, with babies from 4 months of age
• Excellent checkable references, a valid DBS and a current Paediatric First Aid Certificate
• Support with breastfeeding, baby led weaning/feeding, following routines, and reaching all developmental milestones
• Genuine interest in having safe and varied playtime with babies in an interactive way
• Help to gradually socialise the child through taking him to activities
• Be highly organised and hardworking
• Open and flexible to support with babysitting and occasional travel

Duties:
• All nursery duties and maintaining a tidy and organised baby room, baby’s laundry, cleaning and sterilising equipment
• Taking him for daily walks and fresh air, playing outdoors as he gets older
• Stimulating his social development through conversation and engaging play
• Following and adapting routines as he gets older e.g., nap times
• Preparing healthy food for the baby from scratch when weaning
• Organising his clothes and rotating his toys or suggesting new ones to buy
• Stimulating through play, music, books, pictures, age-appropriate activities
• Feeding, changing and general care for the baby
