PURPOSE:

This is an exciting opportunity for a commercial law specialist to join our tightknit in house legal team. You’ll work closely with teams across the company to provide practical, business-focused legal advice and help shape how we do things. From negotiating contracts to supporting compliance and developing clear, helpful policies, you’ll play a key part in keeping our business running smoothly and responsibly.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including supplier contracts, service agreements, licensing agreements, and e-commerce-related terms.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of compliance programmes, particularly in relation to:
    • Data privacy
    • Supply chain due diligence (e.g., modern slavery, ESG-related compliance)
    • Advertising and consumer protection laws
    • Anti-bribery and corruption regulations
  • Provide legal advice to internal teams (e.g. Brand, People, Business Development, IT, Business Insights, Finance, Retail, Social Commerce, Customer Service) in a commercially aware, solution-oriented manner.
  • Assist in the rollout and communication of legal policies, training, and compliance documentation across the business.
  • Help manage contract lifecycle processes, maintain legal templates, and ensure contract hygiene across systems and stakeholders.
  • Monitor legal and regulatory developments relevant to the fashion and retail sector, and support the business in adapting accordingly.
  • Coordinate with external counsel where needed on compliance or commercial issues.
  • Provide legal advice to smaller companies in the group on an ad hoc basis.

THE PERSON:

  • Law degree and admission to practice in the UK.
  • 3-5 years of post-qualification experience, ideally in a law firm or in-house legal team.
  • Solid grounding in commercial contract law and compliance frameworks.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent drafting skills.
  • Confidence in communicating legal concepts clearly to non-legal stakeholders, from store staff to directors.
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
  • A commercial mindset and a collaborative approach.

HOURS:

We actively encourage our teams to have a good work/life balance and so we are pleased to offer flexible working shifts at Fred Perry HQ. Our core shift hours are from 10am – 4.30pm and so employees can choose to start and finish early, or start and finish late. (i.e. work 8:00am-4:30pm, or 10:00am-6:30pm etc). We also have 30-minute early finish on Fridays.

As we continue to work in a more flexible way, the Head Office acts a brand hub, where we can all connect and collaborate with one another. This role is a mix of office based (London) and remote working. We will expect the employee to come into the office regularly for face-to-face meetings and to work alongside their team on collaborative projects.

BENEFITS:

We are proud to offer a wide range of benefits to all our staff, and continue to reassess what our community needs from us to thrive. We don’t want to be a good company to work for, we want to be a great one. Here are some things we currently offer:

  • Annual performance-related bonus
  • Competitive salary
  • Generous staff discount and regular sample sales
  • Generous pension scheme with 8.5% company contribution
