Contract for Services: Level 3 Wine Marker

We are the world’s leading provider of qualifications in wines, spirits and sake, delivering over 140,000 exams each year to candidates in over 70 countries via our network of Approved Programme Providers (APPs).
The successful applicant will contribute to a culture of integrity, empowerment, dynamism, and inclusivity within WSET.
We are now seeking to expand our team of WSET Level 3 Award in Wines external markers who are fluent in one or more of the following languages: Korean, Japanese, Greek, Spanish or Portuguese.
This is a freelance, home-based position flexible to the individual’s needs. The role would ideally suit someone who has a passion for wine and looking to grow their expertise in the drinks industry and education sectors.
Note teaching WSET qualifications formally or informally is a direct conflict of interest for this role. Please note if you are, or wish to be a WSET educator you cannot be considered for this role
Responsibilities
In this role, your primary responsible will be the marking and grading of examination scripts in accordance with established guidelines. You will work collaboratively within a team of markers, supported by the WSET Qualification and Exams Teams who will provide ongoing guidance and support as required.
Comprehensive training will be provided to ensure consistency of standards and a clear understanding of the examination process. In addition, structured standardisation activities will be undertaken regularly, to ensure the accuracy of work.
Each marker is able to choose their workload before marking is assigned based on their availability and the required timeframes. The established maker pool allows a high degree of flexibility based on individual marker needs.
Markers in one subject stream (e.g. Wine) are potentially able to go on to mark other qualifications (e.g. Spirits, Sake) if they have necessary skills, qualifications, or experience.
Requirements
• The successful candidate must be a WSET Diploma Graduate (or equivalent) with specialist wine knowledge, preferably with a background in the drinks trade and/or education sectors.
• Candidates must be fluent in one of following languages; Korean, Japanese, Greek, Spanish or Portuguese. Native speakers of these languages are strongly preferred. Candidates who are not proficient in one or more of the languages will not be considered.
• Candidates should demonstrate a professional level of English proficiency, with strong attention to detail, excellent communication skill, and a consistent commitment to producing high-quality and error-free work.
• To be eligible as a marker, candidates cannot be involved in the teaching of any WSET qualifications, or have any ongoing connection with our teaching centres/Approved Programme Providers.
