Technical Production Manager (Live Events)
Live Events, Installations, Immersive Experiences | London-based
Are you a hands-on technical production professional who thrives on turning ambitious creative ideas into flawless live experiences? This is an opportunity to join a well-established, dynamic production company delivering technically complex live events, installations and immersive environments across the UK and beyond. With a strong repeat niche client base and a small, tight-knit team, this is the kind of business where your contribution will be seen, valued and genuinely make an impact — not a large organisation where you become just another number.
Working across AV, lighting, fountains, lasers, special effects and emerging event technologies, the team creates memorable experiences for clients and audiences. You’ll play a central role in taking projects from concept and planning through to build, live delivery and de-rig, combining technical expertise with practical problem-solving and calm on-site leadership.
The Role
As Technical Production Manager, you will manage the technical delivery of a varied portfolio of live events, brand experiences, temporary installations and permanent installations. You’ll coordinate people, suppliers, equipment and technical plans to ensure every project is delivered safely, smoothly, on time and to specification.
This role would suit someone who enjoys being close to the kit, confident on site and collaborative in the planning room. You’ll be trusted to take ownership, contribute ideas and work with a small, creative team that values high standards, clear communication and practical ingenuity.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage end-to-end technical production across live events, experiential activations, installations and immersive projects.
• Translate creative briefs into practical technical solutions, including equipment requirements, build plans, schedules and on-site delivery plans.
• Coordinate AV, lighting, fountains, lasers, SFX and related technical disciplines to create seamless audience experiences.
• Lead site delivery, including installation, show operation, troubleshooting and de-rig, while maintaining a calm and solutions-focused approach.
• Work closely with internal teams, freelancers, crew, venues and specialist suppliers to keep communication clear and delivery aligned.
• Support project planning, preparation, technical testing, equipment checks and maintenance to reduce risk before site delivery.
• Identify and resolve technical issues quickly, using strong diagnostic skills and sound judgement under pressure.
• Contribute to creative and technical development during design, planning and delivery phases, helping projects exceed client expectations.
• Maintain high standards of health and safety, quality control and compliance across all technical elements.
• Represent the company professionally with clients, suppliers and project partners throughout the production lifecycle.
About You
• You have a strong hands-on technical background in live events, technical production, installations, theatre, experiential, brand activations or a related environment.
• You are confident working across multiple technical disciplines such as AV, lighting, sound, staging, fountains, lasers or special effects.
• You enjoy practical problem-solving and can stay organised and composed when priorities change on site.
• You communicate clearly with clients, crew, freelancers, suppliers and internal teams.
• You are comfortable taking ownership while also contributing positively within a small, collaborative team.
• You have strong attention to detail and understand the importance of safe, reliable and high-quality delivery.
• You are willing to travel and work flexible hours when projects require it.
Experience That Would Be Useful
• CAD experience, for example AutoCAD, Vectorworks or similar design/planning software.
• Experience with water features, fountains, lasers, pyrotechnics, atmospheric effects or special effects.
• Experience supporting technical site visits, production schedules, equipment lists, risk assessments or method statements.
• Knowledge of supplier management, freelance crew coordination, technical budgeting or event logistics.
Why Join?
• Work on technically ambitious live events, installations and immersive experiences.
• Join a creative, collaborative and supportive production team where your ideas and practical expertise will be valued.
• Gain variety across multiple disciplines, project types and delivery environments.
• Take real ownership of projects from concept through to successful on-site delivery.
