Director - Building Services - Electrical
We have a brand-new opportunity for a Director to join our team in Scotland. The role will be based in Glasgow. Our office was established in 2016 to provide a local presence on our projects. It now houses an abundance of key sector expertise and knowledge that supports projects across the UK. The recent opening of our Edinburgh office represents our desire to forge even stronger relationships with our clients in Scotland, by providing a local presence for our East Coast-based projects. We are large enough to provide stability and opportunity, and small enough to recognise our people as individuals. We encourage and foster a collaborative working environment, which includes the widespread adoption of hybrid and flexible working and the option to work a 9-day fortnight. Guided by our vision, we are passionate in our purpose to positively influence the balance between people and planet. We deliver high performing buildings which respond to the challenges of climate change whilst creating spaces which meet the needs of modern living. As a Director, you will be thinking long term; establishing, planning and implementing the strategy for delivering future work. You'll also be accountable for large-scale/complex and high-risk projects, setting out expectations, and empowering others to manage and deliver projects, ensuring client needs are met. You will be exerting a positive influence on the performance of your business area, leading by example and inspiring others to perform at their best. In this key and varied role, you can expect to:
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing Clients and encourage repeat business opportunities
- Support other Directors in developing client relationships in new or existing business sectors
- Develop leadership and support relevant directors in strategic direction of the business
- Lead bid preparation and coordinate tender activities with other disciplines both internally and externally
- Lead, coordinate and agree appointments in conjunction with Risk Management Group

- Accountable for communicating, coordinating and managing resources to ensure successful delivery of projects
- Accountable for achieving financial targets within your area of the business or projects
- Be accountable for the financial management, invoicing, debtor chasing, fee variations and final account settlement on projects under your direction
- Provide expert technical support as part of project joint ventures within the firm
- Input to the recruitment process for the business area and carry out interviews and assist in the selection process of suitable candidates at all levels
- Mentor and support our 'next gen' professionals. To be successful in this role you'll need:
- Qualified and recognised in industry with Chartered status
- Good understanding of other disciplines
- IT literate with a technical understanding of relevant IT packages
- Excellent written and spoken English skills
- Excellent organisational and planning skills to effectively work to timescales and deadlines
- Extensive industry experience (in either a consultancy and/or contracting background)
- To provide a lead role in an integrated project design team with other construction professionals.
- Demonstrable experience working with clients/contractors/collaborators in a design-oriented role.
- Self-awareness, an open mind, and a spirit of generosity.
- Experience in supporting others to develop knowledge, skills, and confidence.
- Science and research or healthcare experience would be beneficial, but not essential. Hoare Lea is a human-centric and planet-conscious engineering consultancy.
