We're hiring a Head of Crypto Tax to lead the tax side of our product and act as the authoritative voice of tax at Koinly.

This is a high-impact, cross-functional leadership role for a tax expert (CPA required) who thrives in the spotlight and would love being at the center of Koinly . You'll serve as the POC for all tax-related matters, being the face of Koinly's technical authority , bridging the gap between technical product logic, strategic marketing, and high-level partnerships.

Sit at the intersection of product compliance, strategic partnerships, and industry education.

Responsibilities

• Public authority and community: Represent Koinly as a thought leader. You'll represent Koinly publicly through major industry conferences, webinars, social platforms, and engage daily with the crypto community on X, Reddit, and LinkedIn.

• Strategic voice: Collaborate with Marketing to set the agenda for educational and thought leadership content, breaking down complex IRS shifts into ready, authoritative insights.

• Product logic and compliance: Own the tax logic and correctness of Koinly’s outputs (e.g., capital gains, Form 8949, 1099-DA, DeFi treatment). You define our position on ambiguous technical scenarios.

• Partner advocacy: Act as the technical POC for high-stakes meetings with strategic partnerships (exchanges, tax software providers, ecosystem partners).

• Ecosystem immersion: Stay deeply immersed in the crypto tax policy, on-chain developments and emerging market practices globally to ensure Koinly is always first-to-market with guidance.

Requirements

• You're a public-facing expert: You don't just have a LinkedIn profile; you've an audience. You're comfortable (and effective) on camera, on stage, and in the "trenches" of crypto social media.

• You're a US tax expert: You've got 4+ years of specialized experience in capital gains and digital asset taxation, with a deep, technical understanding of IRS reporting.

• You're a qualified CPA: You hold an active CPA license and have the technical rigor that comes with it.

• You're crypto-native: You don’t just study the tech; you're an active participant in the ecosystem. You've personally navigated staking, DeFi protocols, NFTs, and complex on-chain transactions. You understand the culture as well as the code.

• You're decisive: You thrive on ownership. You don't say "it depends" but rather make definitive judgement calls in evolving areas to ensure the product remains both compliant and user-friendly.

• You're entrepreneurial: You view yourself as a "Tax Influencer" or "Community Leader" first, and an accountant second. You want to own the narrative, not just the ledger.
