Duties and Responsibilities

As Head Host/ess, I will support Food & Beverage Management and assume responsibility for the efficient operation in the following:

  • Manage Host team and review department need with management on a daily basis.
  • Create and manage team rotas, shift plans, and daily coverage.
  • Manage booking & reservations in collaboration with management.
  • Greet guests on arrival and conduct welcome and check-in procedures in an efficient and friendly manner.
  • Answer outlet telephone courteously and efficiently and manage reservations accordingly.
  • Escort guest to the table and assist in seating and present the menu.
  • Take orders from any food & beverage outlet menus.
  • Inspect condition and cleanliness of menus and wine list, ensure designated amounts are available, and update menus or wine lists as changes occur.
  • Work with an empathetic attitude and if there is any problem which cannot be handled, must contact Management.
  • Take order from any food & beverage outlet menus.
  • Lead opening and closing procedures and ensure handovers are clear and timely.
  • Have a good knowledge of all outlet menus (food and wine) and F&B day to day activities.
  • Have good knowledge of all F&B outlets opening hours.
  • Maintain a high standard of personal appearance, grooming and hygiene.
  • Knowledge and strict adherence to LQA standards.

Qualifications

To execute the position of Head Host/ess, I must have the required qualifications, technical skills and experience in a similar role in luxury hotels with proven results and includes the following:

  • High school diploma or equivalent and at least 2 years’ experience in a similar operational setting. Hospitality diploma/degree from a recognized hospitality school is preferred.
  • Technical skills include MS Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. I am also familiar with various hotel systems including MICROS/point of sell platforms. I have knowledge of hotel policies on discounts/food promotion.
  • I am familiar with Food and Beverage terminology, application, operation, wine service, costs, menu development food and hygiene codes and controlling inventory.
  • Fluent in English; I understand that additional languages are preferred.
