Salary: £36,500 – £46,000
Overview:
First Military Recruitment is working in partnership with our reputable client who are seeking a Maintenance Engineer to join their growing operations team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on maintenance professional with strong problem-solving skills and experience across general building maintenance, plumbing, carpentry, decorating, and minor electrical works. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining premium office environments and supporting tenants across multiple managed sites.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Act as the first point of response for maintenance issues across managed office spaces
- Carry out initial assessments, repairs, or recommend specialist contractors where required
- Conduct regular site inspections and identify requirements for major repairs or remedial works
- Attend sites during contractor visits and ensure all works are completed to company standards
- Perform general maintenance tasks including plumbing repairs, leak repairs, changing taps, lock changes, tiling, painting, and decorating
- Carry out minor electrical works and support with HVAC-related issues where required
- Provide operational support during tenant move-ins, including mounting TVs, installing whiteboards, and general setup tasks
- Undertake light carpentry duties such as building cabinets and minor joinery work
- Maintain high standards of health and safety across all sites
- Represent the company professionally when interacting with clients and tenants
Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven experience within maintenance, facilities, or construction environments
- Experience working on offices & commercial kitchens
- Experience using hardware tools and electrical equipment
- Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems (desirable)
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently
- Good communication skills and confidence dealing directly with clients
- Well-organised with strong attention to detail
- Good awareness of health and safety procedures
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a wider team
- Basic maths skills and practical troubleshooting ability
