The Opportunity

A leading international bank is seeking a Director to lead its London-based ECA Finance Execution & Documentation team.

This is a senior leadership role responsible for managing a team of 4-5 professionals supporting the execution, documentation and closing of complex ECA-backed financing transactions across multiple jurisdictions.

The role works in close partnership with an established international origination platform and will act as the key coordination point between Front Office, Legal, Risk, Operations, external counsel, borrowers, exporters and Export Credit Agencies.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced export finance professional seeking a team leadership position with responsibility for both people management and transaction delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership

• Lead, mentor and develop a team of 4-5 execution and documentation professionals.
• Manage resource allocation across multiple live transactions.
• Drive operational excellence, efficiency and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support recruitment, performance management and staff development.

Transaction Execution

• Oversee the execution of ECA-backed financings from mandate through to signing and financial close.
• Manage transaction timelines and critical milestones.
• Coordinate internal stakeholders to ensure timely approvals and successful deal delivery.
• Support amendments, waivers, refinancings and other post-closing activities.

Documentation

• Lead negotiations of facility agreements and related finance documentation.
• Coordinate closely with external counsel, borrowers, ECAs and participating lenders.
• Ensure documentation accurately reflects approved credit terms and risk requirements.
• Oversee conditions precedent and funding processes.

Stakeholder Management

• Act as a senior point of contact across Front Office, Risk, Legal, Compliance, Operations and Agency teams.
• Build strong relationships with ECAs, legal advisers, clients and banking partners.
• Ensure effective communication across all parties throughout the transaction lifecycle.

The Successful Applicant

Candidate Profile

Successful candidates are likely to have:

• Significant experience within Export Finance, ECA Finance, Structured Finance or Project Finance execution.
• Strong documentation and transaction management experience.
• Previous team management and people leadership experience.
• A strong understanding of syndicated lending and cross-border financing structures.
• Experience managing complex stakeholder groups across multiple jurisdictions.
• Excellent organisational and project management skills.
• A proactive and collaborative working style.
