Welfare Officer
Welfare Officer (Including Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead & Attendance) Location: Camberwell, London SE5 Hours: Full time, 8.30am – 4.00pm, term time only About the Role: Uniform Education is working with a specialist independent SEN school we support in Camberwell who are looking to appoint a dedicated and compassionate Welfare Officer. This is a key role within the school, supporting the wellbeing, safeguarding and attendance of students across Key Stages 3 and 4. The school provides education for girls with complex social, emotional and attachment needs in a nurturing and structured environment. Key Responsibilities: * Act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, supporting the overall safeguarding and child protection processes * Monitor and promote excellent attendance, working closely with families to address barriers to learning * Provide pastoral care and emotional support for students, ensuring their wellbeing is at the forefront of all school activity * Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils, staff and families to maintain a supportive and inclusive school culture * Maintain accurate records in line with safeguarding and attendance policies Person Specification: * Previous experience in a pastoral, safeguarding or welfare role within education, social care or a related setting * Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation and best practice * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to remain calm and professional under pressure * Empathetic, approachable and resilient when supporting young people with complex needs * Confident working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team What’s on Offer: * Supportive and collaborative school environment * Professional development opportunities and access to training * Pension scheme and staff wellbeing initiatives * Excellent transport links in Zone 2 (Camberwell SE5 0UB) Safeguarding: Uniform Education and the school we support are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
