Science Technician - Ealing
A well-equipped school in Ealing is recruiting a dependable and organised Science Technician to join the science department from January 2026. The Science Technician will prepare apparatus, set up practical stations, maintain consumable stock and ensure laboratories are safe and ready for lessons. This Science Technician post in Ealing starts January 2026, with induction and handover activity scheduled before January 2026 to ensure continuity for teachers and pupils.

The appointed Science Technician will manage chemical stores, update inventories, carry out routine safety checks and assist with equipment calibration. The Ealing department values an organised Science Technician who can work autonomously, support demonstrations where appropriate and keep records compliant with COSHH and local policies. Working in Ealing, the Science Technician will be part of a collaborative department that supports professional development.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, set up and clear practical work across KS3–KS5 in a timely manner.
- Maintain stock levels, order consumables and manage secure chemical storage.
- Carry out routine apparatus checks, log faults and arrange repairs as needed.
- Keep COSHH, risk-assessment and safety documentation up to date and accessible.
- Support staff with demonstrations and provide practical guidance on safe procedures.
Person specification
- Practical laboratory experience, ideally in a school or technical environment.
- Clear understanding of COSHH, basic risk assessment and lab safety procedures.
- Organised, methodical and confident with inventory management systems.
- Good communicator, able to liaise with teachers, pupils and external suppliers across Ealing.
- Able to start January 2026 and participate in pre-term induction before January 2026.
