Consultant - Technology M&A

BearingPoint United Kingdom
London

Do you want to build unique competencies and a rewarding career in one of the fastest growing M&A advisories in Europe?

BearingPoint Capital is seeking Consultants to join our global M&A team in London, specifically within our Technology Due Diligence service.

As part of BearingPoint Capital, you will have the opportunity to fast‑track your career in a start‑up‑like environment within a large organisation, gaining competencies and skills through a wide variety of challenging M&A projects for top‑tier clients. Our client base is rapidly expanding and includes Private Equity firms, family offices, corporates, and strategic investors.

Our M&A service offerings are designed for companies where technology is central to the business strategy and investment thesis. You will join a highly skilled and driven team working on both local and international engagements. We are looking for high‑performing candidates with a passion for technology to support our clients in technology due diligence and tech‑enabled M&A advisory, distinct from corporate finance or valuation work.

About BearingPoint Capital

BearingPoint Capital is a business unit within the global management consultancy BearingPoint. Capital is a smaller, global team that delivers M&A advisory services on both the sell‑side and buy‑side. Our service offerings include M&A strategy consulting, commercial and technological due diligence.

In addition to client advisory work, Capital is responsible for managing BearingPoint’s own corporate portfolio and venture investments.

BearingPoint Capital draws on BearingPoint’s global consultancy network, with more than 6,500 employees supporting clients in over 75 countries.

Your primary tasks will include:

Technology Due Diligence Delivery: Support buy‑side and sell‑side technology due diligence under the guidance of Senior Consultants and Managers, analysing IT strategy, architecture, infrastructure, and operating models to assess maturity, scalability, and business alignment.

Product Due Diligence: Support assessments of product strategy, roadmap, and functional differentiation, focusing on product maturity, technical foundations, and alignment with commercial objectives.

Technology & Operational Insight: Build a practical understanding of software architecture, SDLC, cloud environments, and engineering practices relevant to technology‑led M&A.

End‑to‑End Deal Exposure: Contribute across the transaction lifecycle, including pre‑deal due diligence and selected post‑deal activities such as integration, separation, and technology‑led value creation.

Workstream Support: Support defined workstreams within cross‑functional teams, working closely with Senior Consultants and Managers to ensure high‑quality delivery.

Client Interaction: Participate in client meetings and management interviews, and support the preparation of pitches, RFPs, RFIs, and client deliverables.

Cross‑Border Collaboration: Work with colleagues across Europe on engagements spanning multiple industries and geographies.

Strategic Exposure: Gain exposure to BearingPoint’s broader M&A strategy and internal initiatives, including portfolio and venture‑related activities.

We are looking for top‑performing individuals with the following characteristics and background:

  • 2–3+ years of relevant professional experience, typically in:

    • Technology, IT, or management consulting

    • M&A advisory or transaction services

    • Software, digital, or technology‑enabled environments

  • A good understanding of software and technology, including:

    • Software architecture principles

    • IT infrastructure and cloud environments

    • SDLC and delivery models

  • Demonstrated interest in the intersection of M&A, strategy, and technology

  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to structure and synthesise complex topics

  • Business‑oriented mindset and ability to work effectively in fast‑paced deal environments

  • Excellent communication skills, with experience producing high‑quality written reports and presentations

  • Collaborative team player, eager to learn and develop within a high‑performing team

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or MBA degree from a leading university, with a strong academic record

  • Fluent English

  • Candidates must have the right to work in the UK

For the right candidate, we can offer:

  • Exciting career prospects with opportunities to learn and progress quickly

  • Exposure to the development and execution of our firmwide M&A strategy, including venture investments

  • Experience across technology due diligence and broader M&A advisory work

  • Collaboration with top‑tier clients, including leading Private Equity firms, family offices, and strategic investors

  • Highly competent and down‑to‑earth colleagues

  • An informal and “easy to work with” culture

  • Competitive compensation and benefits

  • Office in Central London
