Finance Officer - Brent
A popular primary school in Brent is looking to appoint a reliable Finance Officer to support financial operations from January 2026. The Finance Officer will be responsible for day-to-day transactional processing including purchase ledger, sales ledger, banking, reconciliations and assisting with payroll administration. This Finance Officer role is essential to ensuring accurate financial records and smooth finance workflows.

The Finance Officer will maintain accurate ledgers, prepare payment runs, support budget monitoring by producing routine reports and assist with audit pack preparation. The role requires close liaison with the School Business Manager, administrative colleagues and external suppliers. The appointed Finance Officer will begin January 2026, with a short handover and induction period before the spring term.
Responsibilities
- Process purchase invoices, prepare supplier payments and maintain accurate purchase ledger records.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit card transactions and petty cash, updating ledgers regularly.
- Support payroll administration, including inputting absences and producing relevant reports.
- Assist with the preparation of management information and budget-monitoring spreadsheets.
- Provide ad-hoc financial support for audits and grant applications as required.
Person specification
- Previous experience in a transactional finance role, ideally within education or the public sector.
- Strong numeracy, attention to detail and competence with accounting software and spreadsheets.
- Good communication skills and an ability to work accurately to deadlines.
- Organised, reliable and able to work collaboratively within Brent school teams.
- Available to start January 2026 and based in Brent.
