An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced housing professional to lead a high-impact service focused on homelessness prevention, housing allocations, and register assessments.
Role Overview – Head of Homelessness and Allocations:
- Provide strategic leadership across homelessness services, housing register assessments, and social housing allocations.
- Lead the development and transformation of services in line with corporate priorities and budgetary frameworks.
- Oversee the temporary accommodation strategy, working to reduce usage and improve quality.
- Ensure compliance with statutory duties under Part 6 and Part 7 of the Housing Act.
- Manage performance frameworks, service improvement plans, and transformation programmes.
- Collaborate with internal departments, elected members, and external partners to deliver housing targets and improve outcomes.
- Represent the service at senior-level meetings, public consultations, and cross-organisational forums.
Candidate Profile:
- Proven leadership experience in homelessness, housing options, and allocations within a local authority or similar setting.
- Strong understanding of housing legislation, policy frameworks, and regulatory compliance.
- Demonstrated success in managing complex services, budgets, and transformation programmes.
- Skilled in stakeholder engagement, performance management, and strategic planning.
- Politically astute, with the ability to influence and lead across departments and external partnerships.
Qualifications:
- No specific qualifications required, but relevant housing or leadership credentials are advantageous.
- Experience working at Head of Service level or equivalent is essential.
