A rare and exciting opportunity to lead AECOM’s UK Façade Engineering Team from our London office. This will be a highly visible role within our organisation and will offer many growth opportunities, both technically and operationally.

We are a close-core team of 10 façade engineers based in London. We collaborate with a broader network of specialists within the AECOM family.

The team is currently delivering the design of various projects in the UK, Ireland, and further afield in multiple sectors including; Healthcare, Residential, Commercial, Transport, Sports, Mixed Use and Retrofit. Many of these are delivered as part of a multi-discipline AECOM design team in collaboration with our; Sustainability, Fire, Structures, MEP, Lighting, Acoustics, Energy, Cost, and Project Management consultants and specialists. Our team also delivers work to external clients as a direct appointment.

To be successful in this role, you will assume general responsibilities for façade consultancy input to a wide range of clients and projects. You will proactively contribute to the growth of AECOM’s Façade Engineering team’s capabilities.

What you’ll do?

You will lead the Façade Engineering UK team for AECOM, reporting directly to the Director of Specialisms. The discipline operates alongside the other Specialism disciplines, and you will have your own Façade Engineering performance targets and a collective Specialism Group target. The Group meets once a month to collaborate and to report on operations.

Your role will be to provide business strategy, people leadership, and technical oversight for the Façade Engineering Discipline. You will be responsible for the organisational structure of your team, the technical growth and capabilities of the team, recruitment, management of workload and pastoral and HR matters. The team must remain profitable, and you are expected to contribute to work winning.

Requirements:

Successful candidates should have experience in the following duties associated with the role. Experience of all is not essential:

• Commercial awareness.
• Team leadership.
• Project leadership.
• Façade engineering technical capability.
• Strong Client relations.
• Work winning.
• Strategic business focus.
• Pastoral and HR management.
• Extensive experience in the façade industry and dedicated façade consultancy experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively, be client-facing, and write concise and clear reports.
• A detailed understanding of system design considerations, performance analysis of the systems, and testing procedures.
• Experience in bidding for or supporting the winning of work.
• Knowledge of relevant façade & structural software, e.g., Strand 7, SJ MEPLA, Therm or Flixo, AutoCAD, Revit. Ability to use all Microsoft Office and related packages.

We expect that you will have some or all of the following

qualifications

• Engineering, Architecture or building-related degree
• Masters in Façade Engineering
• Chartership in Façade Engineering
• Registered to Engineering Council’s UK-SPEC HRB
• Member or Fellow of the Society of Façade Engineering
