I'm working with a leading national accountancy firm that is looking to appoint a Pensions Audit Manager into its specialist audit team.
This is a strong opportunity for a qualified audit professional with pension scheme audit experience who wants to manage a high-quality client portfolio, develop their leadership skills and progress within a supportive, well-regarded national firm.
The team works with a varied portfolio of high-profile pension fund clients, delivering audit, assurance and risk management services that add real value to trustee governance and scheme management.
The Role
As Pensions Audit Manager, you will manage a portfolio of pension scheme audit clients, reporting directly to the Engagement Partner and acting as the principal contact for your clients.
You will lead audits from planning through to completion, manage teams, review work and support wider pensions assurance projects.
Responsibilities will include:
Managing a portfolio of pension scheme audit clients
Acting as the main contact for clients
Leading statutory audits from planning to completion
Drafting audit planning and findings reports
Managing audit teams, reviewing work and supporting staff development
Taking responsibility for delivery against deadlines and budgets
Ensuring work is completed profitably, efficiently and to a high standard
Identifying added-value recommendations to improve client governance
Providing insightful comments and reporting to clients
Supporting wider pensions assurance and risk management projects
Liaising with clients and preparing reports for advisory-style assignments
Contributing to a continuous improvement culture across the team
What They're Looking For
The firm is keen to speak with technically strong audit professionals who have experience in pension scheme audit and are confident managing clients, teams and deadlines.
You will ideally have:
ACA, CA or ACCA qualification
Strong audit grounding gained within practice
Pension scheme audit experience
Good understanding of the pensions SORP
Working knowledge of pensions sector regulations
Experience managing audit assignments and client relationships
The ability to support, mentor and develop team members
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
A collaborative, professional and client-focused approach
The ability to support Partners and ensure work meets audit objectives and quality standards

This would suit an experienced Audit Manager looking to specialise further in pensions audit, or a strong Assistant Manager ready to step up into a Manager role with more responsibility, client ownership and progression.
