Pensions Audit Manager

Audit Manager - Pensions
£70,000-£85,000 + benefits
Hybrid or office-based working

I'm working with a leading national accountancy firm that is looking to appoint a Pensions Audit Manager into its specialist audit team.

This is a strong opportunity for a qualified audit professional with pension scheme audit experience who wants to manage a high-quality client portfolio, develop their leadership skills and progress within a supportive, well-regarded national firm.

The team works with a varied portfolio of high-profile pension fund clients, delivering audit, assurance and risk management services that add real value to trustee governance and scheme management.

The Role

As Pensions Audit Manager, you will manage a portfolio of pension scheme audit clients, reporting directly to the Engagement Partner and acting as the principal contact for your clients.

You will lead audits from planning through to completion, manage teams, review work and support wider pensions assurance projects.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Managing a portfolio of pension scheme audit clients

  • Acting as the main contact for clients

  • Leading statutory audits from planning to completion

  • Drafting audit planning and findings reports

  • Managing audit teams, reviewing work and supporting staff development

  • Taking responsibility for delivery against deadlines and budgets

  • Ensuring work is completed profitably, efficiently and to a high standard

  • Identifying added-value recommendations to improve client governance

  • Providing insightful comments and reporting to clients

  • Supporting wider pensions assurance and risk management projects

  • Liaising with clients and preparing reports for advisory-style assignments

  • Contributing to a continuous improvement culture across the team

What They're Looking For

The firm is keen to speak with technically strong audit professionals who have experience in pension scheme audit and are confident managing clients, teams and deadlines.

You will ideally have:

  • ACA, CA or ACCA qualification

  • Strong audit grounding gained within practice

  • Pension scheme audit experience

  • Good understanding of the pensions SORP

  • Working knowledge of pensions sector regulations

  • Experience managing audit assignments and client relationships

  • The ability to support, mentor and develop team members

  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities

  • A collaborative, professional and client-focused approach

  • The ability to support Partners and ensure work meets audit objectives and quality standards

Why Apply?

This is an excellent opportunity to join a specialist pensions audit team within a leading national firm, offering high-quality clients, strong technical development and a clear career pathway.

The firm offers a collaborative, inclusive and merit-based culture, with access to expert knowledge, continuous learning, flexible benefits and dedicated wellbeing support.

The package includes:

  • £70,000-£85,000 + benefits

  • Hybrid or office-based working

  • High-profile pension fund client base

  • Specialist pensions audit and assurance exposure

  • Clear career pathway and progression support

  • Continuous learning and technical development

  • Flexible benefits package

  • Dedicated wellbeing support

  • Inclusive and collaborative culture

This would suit an experienced Audit Manager looking to specialise further in pensions audit, or a strong Assistant Manager ready to step up into a Manager role with more responsibility, client ownership and progression.

Please note, applicants must have an existing permanent right to live and work in the UK.
