Postal Delivery Driver (Postie) - Deptford Delivery Office (SE8 5HY) (Hiring Immediately)
Location: New Cross Delivery Office, SE14 5ET
Job type: Fixed Term contract (9 months)
Salary: £16.24 per hour * (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.
Working hours: 37:00 hours per week – working (4) days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 08:48/15:48

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.
You’ll be required to work Sundays at (Forest Hill ) Delivery Office.
What you’ll do
- Sort letters and parcels at the delivery office
- Deliver post by van and on foot in your local area
- Build relationships with customers
- Work outdoors in all weathers

What to expect
This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:
- Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
- Driving a Royal Mail van daily
- Working in all weather conditions
- Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
- Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods
About you
We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:
- A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
- Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
- Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances , climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
- Reliable and self-motivated
