HR Manager | Lead HR at a High-Achieving Secondary School...

Marchant Recruitment
London

A highly regarded secondary school in Camden is looking to appoint an experienced HR Manager to join its leadership support team on a full-time, permanent basis from September 2026.

This is an outstanding opportunity for an ambitious HR professional to make a real impact within a successful school that places its people at the heart of everything it does. Working closely with the Headteacher, Senior Leadership Team, and School Business Manager, you'll lead all aspects of Human Resources, helping to attract, develop, and retain exceptional staff while fostering a positive and inclusive workplace culture.

The Role

As HR Manager, you'll oversee the school's HR function, ensuring all people processes are delivered efficiently, professionally, and in line with current employment legislation.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading recruitment campaigns and overseeing safer recruitment processes

  • Providing expert advice on employee relations, performance management, and absence management

  • Managing disciplinary, grievance, and capability procedures where required

  • Reviewing and developing HR policies and procedures

  • Overseeing contracts, personnel records, and HR compliance

  • Producing workforce reports and supporting strategic staffing decisions

  • Working with leaders to improve staff wellbeing, engagement, and retention

  • Managing HR systems and ensuring GDPR compliance across employee records

About the School

This high-achieving 11–18 secondary school is recognised for its strong leadership, ambitious vision, and excellent staff development opportunities. The school has a collaborative culture where professional growth is actively encouraged, and the HR team plays a key role in supporting the continued success of both staff and students.

The Successful Candidate

Applications are welcomed from experienced HR Managers, HR Business Partners, Senior HR Advisors, or experienced HR professionals looking to progress into a strategic leadership position within education.

You'll have a strong understanding of employment law, excellent communication and organisational skills, and experience managing complex HR casework. You'll enjoy building positive relationships and supporting leaders to make informed people decisions.

As part of the school's safer recruitment procedures, references from your current (or most recent) employer and a previous employer will be required before an interview can be arranged.

Salary & Benefits

  • £50,000–£60,000 per annum

  • Full-time, permanent position

  • September 2026 start

  • Local Government Pension Scheme

  • Generous annual leave entitlement

  • Ongoing leadership and professional development

  • Employee wellbeing programme

  • Modern working environment with excellent facilities

Apply

The school is interviewing as soon as suitable applications are received, so early applications are encouraged.

If you're looking for an opportunity to lead HR within a successful secondary school where your expertise will directly influence staff experience, organisational culture, and long-term success, we'd love to hear from you. Submit your CV today for immediate consideration.
