Key Responsibilities

As a Primary Teacher in this Leyton school, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Planning, preparing, and delivering engaging, creative, and well-structured lessons across the curriculum in line with the National Curriculum

  • Creating a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that supports learning for all pupils

  • Differentiating teaching and learning to meet the diverse needs of pupils, including SEN, EAL, and high-achieving learners

  • Using formative and summative assessment to monitor pupil progress and inform planning

  • Setting high expectations for behaviour, effort, and achievement in the classroom

  • Supporting pupils’ social, emotional, and academic development

  • Working collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, SEN staff, and senior leaders to ensure continuity of learning

  • Contributing to pupil progress meetings, interventions, and whole-school initiatives

  • Communicating effectively with parents and carers regarding pupil progress and achievement

  • Maintaining accurate records, reports, and documentation in line with school policy

  • Participating actively in staff meetings, professional development sessions, and school-wide projects

  • Upholding safeguarding and child protection policies, ensuring the welfare and safety of all pupils

The Ideal Candidate

The school is looking for a Primary Teacher who demonstrates the following qualities:

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Experience teaching in KS1 or KS2 (ECTs welcome)

  • Excellent classroom management skills with a consistent and positive approach to behaviour

  • Commitment to inclusion and high-quality teaching for all pupils

  • Ability to adapt lessons to meet the needs of diverse learners, including SEN and EAL pupils

  • Strong organisational, planning, and time-management skills

  • Collaborative, professional, and proactive attitude

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with pupils, parents, and colleagues

  • Reflective and committed to continual professional development

Teachers with experience supporting pupils with SEN or additional learning needs will be particularly valued, though this is not essential.
