Who is Bridebook anyway?
Bridebook is a SaaS and Marketplace scale-up business revolutionising the wedding industry. We are proud to be the UK’s number one wedding planning app and the ONLY global provider! Our mission is to make the wedding planning journey as happy as possible for engaged couples everywhere.
With over 90% of the world’s 7.5bn population expected to get married in their lifetime, the wedding industry is massive. It is 50% larger than the global taxi and food delivery markets combined, yet it sadly lags in digitalisation and lacks solutions for the modern-day needs of both couples and businesses.
So here’s Bridebook, set to disrupt the wedding industry
Our innovative platform is designed to make wedding planning effortless and stress-free. From personalised wedding checklists, budget management tools, a vast selection of venues and suppliers, and endless inspiration – couples can access it all at their fingertips. After recently becoming the first app of its kind to launch globally, Bridebook now enables couples to plan destination weddings anywhere in the world. This exciting expansion makes it a truly fantastic time to join us on our journey!
Our team is made up of talented creative, analytical, and tech-focused minds! We’ve collaborated with some fantastic partners including the Natural History Museum, Hilton, the Ritz, Etsy and Jimmy Choo, and have been featured 12 times on the App Store as well as being rated the number 1 app by Apple. Our investors are well known for supporting some previous successful unicorns such as Airbnb, Pinterest, Skyscanner and Tesla.
What will I be doing?
We’re looking for a Senior People Advisor to join our People & Culture team on a 12-month fixed-term contract, providing maternity cover.
Reporting to our Senior People Business Partner, you’ll be a trusted People advisor to employees and managers while owning a range of People outcomes across the employee lifecycle.
This is a hands-on, high-impact role. You’ll independently manage People processes and low-to-medium complexity employee relations matters, coach managers through day-to-day people challenges and use data and judgement to help us make better decisions.
You’ll also play an important role in streamlining our People practices, while ensuring they remain scalable and effective as Bridebook grows.
Specific responsibilities will include:
Act as a trusted People advisor to our employees and junior managers, providing clear, pragmatic guidance across performance, development, policies and employee relations.
Own key People operations across the employee lifecycle, including managing our UK and Germany payrolls.
Coach junior managers through people challenges, building their confidence and capability while constructively challenging where needed.
Drive continuous improvement across People processes, systems and documentation, identifying smarter and more scalable ways of working, including the thoughtful use of AI and automation.
Analyse People data and trends, translating insights into clear, practical recommendations for managers and leaders.
Support the delivery of key People programmes including performance reviews, compensation cycles, engagement initiatives and manager development.
Own and contribute to People & Culture projects, partnering closely with Talent, managers and Employee Resource Groups to strengthen employee experience, inclusion and business performance.
Lead low-to-medium complexity employee relations cases end-to-end, using sound judgement to balance employee experience, employment law and business needs, and escalating higher-risk matters appropriately.
We’re looking for someone who:
Has strong HR / People Advisory or partnering experience and is comfortable operating independently in a fast-paced environment.
Is comfortable coaching and challenging managers, rather than simply providing them with an answer.
Demonstrates excellent judgement and knows when to make a call independently and when an issue needs to be escalated.
Has strong applied knowledge of UK employment law and experience using that knowledge to confidently advise managers and manage employee relations matters.
Is commercially aware and can balance employee experience, legal risk and business needs when making recommendations.
Is confident working with People data and can turn information into clear insight and recommended action.
Takes ownership from problem through to resolution and can manage multiple priorities without losing attention to detail.
Has experience independently managing low-to-medium complexity ER cases from initial assessment through to resolution.
Naturally looks for ways to simplify and improve how things work, including through technology, AI and automation.
Communicates with clarity, credibility and calmness, including during sensitive or high-pressure situations.
Is trusted, discreet and ethically grounded when handling confidential information.
Enjoys working collaboratively while being comfortable taking independent ownership of their area.
Experience supporting UK payroll would be essential and exposure to international People operations, particularly Germany, would be an advantage.
This role likely isn’t for you if…
You’re looking for a purely strategic or hands-off People role. This role combines advisory work, operational ownership and problem-solving, and you’ll stay close to the detail.
You prefer highly defined, static processes. We’re constantly evolving how we work, and we’ll expect you to spot what could be better and help build the solution.
You’re uncomfortable making judgement calls, navigating ambiguity or having difficult conversations with managers.
You prefer to escalate problems rather than taking ownership of resolving them at the appropriate level.
You see People data, systems or operational processes as separate from advisory work - we believe great People advice comes from understanding all of them.
You want to simply follow an established playbook. You’ll be expected to apply judgement, challenge constructively and help raise the standard of how we work.
What if you’re a partial fit?
We love hearing from anyone who is enthusiastic about changing the wedding industry and welcome candidates with different backgrounds and experiences! We prioritise grit, positivity, and the willingness to get stuck in, and encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn’t exactly match this job description.
