A vibrant and inclusive secondary school in Brixton is seeking a reliable and hands-on Site Assistant to join its dedicated premises team. This is a full-time, permanent role suited to someone practical, organised, and committed to ensuring a safe and well-maintained environment for students, staff, and visitors.

About the School

The school is proud of its strong community ethos and well-maintained facilities. The Site Assistant plays a key operational role in supporting the Site Manager to ensure the school premises are secure, compliant, and fully functional on a daily basis.

Role Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Assist with the opening and closing of the school site, including security checks and alarm systems.

  • Carry out minor repairs, general maintenance, and basic DIY tasks.

  • Support health and safety compliance checks, including fire alarm testing and site inspections.

  • Help prepare rooms and facilities for lessons, examinations, assemblies, and school events.

  • Monitor the condition of buildings and grounds, reporting any issues promptly.

  • Supervise contractors on site and ensure safeguarding procedures are adhered to.

  • Assist with deliveries and movement of furniture and equipment.

Candidate Requirements

  • Previous experience in a facilities, maintenance, or site role is desirable.

  • Practical skills and the ability to carry out general maintenance tasks.

  • Understanding of health and safety regulations within a school or public building.

  • Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.

  • Strong communication skills and a professional approach.

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
