Site Assistant - Brixton
A vibrant and inclusive secondary school in Brixton is seeking a reliable and hands-on Site Assistant to join its dedicated premises team. This is a full-time, permanent role suited to someone practical, organised, and committed to ensuring a safe and well-maintained environment for students, staff, and visitors.
About the School
The school is proud of its strong community ethos and well-maintained facilities. The Site Assistant plays a key operational role in supporting the Site Manager to ensure the school premises are secure, compliant, and fully functional on a daily basis.
Role Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
Assist with the opening and closing of the school site, including security checks and alarm systems.
Carry out minor repairs, general maintenance, and basic DIY tasks.
Support health and safety compliance checks, including fire alarm testing and site inspections.
Help prepare rooms and facilities for lessons, examinations, assemblies, and school events.
Monitor the condition of buildings and grounds, reporting any issues promptly.
Supervise contractors on site and ensure safeguarding procedures are adhered to.
Assist with deliveries and movement of furniture and equipment.
Candidate Requirements
Previous experience in a facilities, maintenance, or site role is desirable.
Practical skills and the ability to carry out general maintenance tasks.
Understanding of health and safety regulations within a school or public building.
Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
Strong communication skills and a professional approach.
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
