The Role
Reporting to the Head of Data, the Operational MI and Business Insights Senior Manager will be responsible for building out a data driven approach to decision making, reviewing and optimizing existing and new processes, and supporting leadership data requests.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively across assigned business & functions, aligned with our vision of being the most sought-after digital age partner in the innovation economy, our mission to increase our clients’ probability of success and to efficiently scale our business. Current focus areas include Client Onboarding & Lifecycle Management, Financial Crime Compliance and our Operations teams. The role will also require you to interface with our global teams to share best practices, leverage global solutions, and support business cases to drive growth in the business.
You will have responsibility to develop and deliver timely and relevant Management Information and provide data-driven recommendations to improve the client experience, increase efficiency, reduce risk and scale these areas as the business continues to grow at an exceptional pace.
This is a key area of focus for HSBC Innovation Banking and will provide the successful candidate with personal development opportunities, exposure to multiple business units, and ongoing career development.
Responsibilities:
- Driving data-focused recommendations and decisions through deep-dive analytics and business acumen
- Review existing processes to identify opportunities for process optimization and automation, process redesign, or development of new ones. Willing to challenge the status quo
- Construct proprietary datasets leveraging internal and external data to extract valuable insights, in collaboration with the wider data team
- Work collaboratively with key stakeholders across Operations and Change Management to look at new technology/digital solutions (i.e. RPA) to enhance processes and provide increased efficiency and scale
- Create high-quality reports for internal consumption providing operational MI and business insights and associate recommendations to stakeholders including HINV ExCo and Board
- Develop and design operational MI and business insights dashboards to monitor performance and trend analysis
- Lead a small team of data professionals to support.
Requirements (Skills/experience)
- Advanced proficiency in data reporting and visualisation tools (e.g., Tableau), and strong capability producing executive-ready materials in PowerPoint and Excel.
- Strong hands-on capability with SQL (or equivalent querying capability) to extract, validate and shape data into reliable datasets for reporting and analysis.
- Demonstrable experience operating at Senior Manager level (or equivalent), influencing senior stakeholders and owning delivery of MI/insights for a business area.
- Aptitude for framing business questions in analytic terms and translating business requirements into useful datasets and analyses with actionable insights.
- Proven experience presenting to and constructively challenging senior executives, including communicating methodology, assumptions, risks and recommendations clearly.
- Strong initiative, intellectual curiosity and ownership; able to work at pace while maintaining close attention to detail and quality.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with diverse teams to land the best solution and drive action across teams and leadership.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related experience.
