Days/Hours : Monday–Saturday | Mornings before school & afternoons/evenings after school (time off during school hours)
Salary : £40,000–£50,000 gross per annum DOE
Accommodation : Private 1-bedroom apartment within the family home, bills included

Overview
A warm and supportive family in Northwood, London is seeking an experienced and proactive Live-in Governess to provide tailored educational and developmental support to their daughter, aged under 10. The role focuses on tutoring, daily routines, and additional assistance with mild autistic SEN, particularly in speech and engagement.
The Governess will work mornings before school and afternoons/evenings after school, with free time during school hours. This is a long-term role requiring consistency, structure, and a nurturing approach.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide structured tutoring and academic support, ensuring alignment with the UK school curriculum
- Support the child with mild autistic SEN, including speech and engagement needs
- Organise engaging, age-appropriate activities that encourage learning, independence, and confidence
- Assist with daily routines, providing stability and guidance
- Maintain close communication with parents to ensure continuity of care and development
- Be a positive mentor and role model, supporting the child’s educational and personal growth
Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience with children 6-8 within private households or schools
- Strong background in supporting children of primary school age
- Experience working with children with autistic spectrum needs (mild)
- Knowledge of the UK curriculum essential
- Energetic, proactive, and committed to long-term employment
- Professional, discreet, and highly organised
- Comfortable in a household with a well-trained SEN assistance dog
