Wayman Education is recruiting a Year 1 Teacher for a popular primary school in Richmond. The successful Year 1 Teacher will deliver a well-sequenced Year 1 curriculum, lead early reading and phonics, and work with support staff to close gaps. This Year 1 Teacher role in Richmond will benefit from structured induction, classroom coaching and clear progression opportunities. Start Date – January 2026
Contract – Permanent, Full-Time
The role
The Year 1 Teacher will plan daily lessons, assess progress and adapt teaching to meet the needs of Year 1 pupils. The Year 1 Teacher will liaise with parents, lead small-group interventions and support transition into Key Stage 1. The appointed Year 1 Teacher should be ready to begin in January 2026 and to contribute to spring term planning from January 2026. The Year 1 Teacher will be part of a close-knit team based in Richmond.
Person specification for the Year 1 Teacher
• QTS/PGCE and proven Year 1 experience as a Year 1 Teacher.
• Strong phonics knowledge, early writing and maths skills for the Year 1 Teacher.
• Excellent communication and ability to start January 2026 in Richmond.
