Year 1 Teaching Role in a Faith School
A welcoming Faith School in Barnet is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and nurturing Year 1 Teacher to join its successful primary team from September. About the Role
You will take responsibility for a Year 1 class, delivering engaging and creative lessons across the primary curriculum while ensuring pupils make strong progress academically and personally.
The role will involve supporting pupils as they transition from the Early Years Foundation Stage into Key Stage 1, helping them develop independence, resilience, and key foundational skills in reading, writing, mathematics, and phonics.
You will create a stimulating classroom environment that promotes high expectations, positive behaviour, and a love of learning.
Working closely with colleagues, teaching assistants, and parents, you will ensure that every pupil receives the support and challenge they need to thrive.
Key Responsibilities
Teach a Year 1 class across the full primary curriculum
Deliver high-quality phonics teaching in line with the school's approach
Support pupils' development in reading, writing, mathematics, and wider curriculum areas
Plan engaging lessons that meet the needs of all learners
Assess pupil progress and provide effective feedback
Maintain accurate records and contribute to reporting procedures
Create a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment
Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and support staff

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching within EYFS or Key Stage 1
Strong understanding of the Key Stage 1 curriculum
Knowledge of effective phonics teaching strategies
Excellent classroom management and communication skills
Desirable
Experience teaching Year 1
Experience supporting the transition from EYFS to KS1
Experience working within a faith-based or community-focused school
A commitment to wider school life and enrichment opportunities
