You will teach general Science across Key Stage 3 before specialising in Biology at GCSE level. Your lessons will cover areas such as cell biology, organisation, infection and response, bioenergetics, homeostasis, ecology, inheritance and evolution.
A key part of the role will be helping students understand the scientific processes behind what they are learning. Practical investigations should be used to give pupils the opportunity to test ideas, analyse results and develop confidence working scientifically.
At GCSE, you will support students with examination preparation and help them develop the ability to apply biological knowledge to unfamiliar questions. You will regularly assess understanding and use feedback to address misconceptions and improve student outcomes.
The successful Biology Teacher will be enthusiastic, organised and able to create a classroom environment where students are encouraged to ask questions and develop their scientific thinking.

Biology Teacher - Experience and Qualifications
Biology Degree or related Science Degree
QTS or recognised teaching qualification
Experience teaching Science at secondary level
Strong Biology subject knowledge
Ability to teach KS3 Science
GCSE Biology experience
Confident delivering practical investigations
Strong classroom management
Good planning and assessment skills
Ability to support and challenge students effectively
Commitment to improving student achievement
Salary
The salary for this Biology Teacher position will be paid to scale on MPS/UPS, depending on experience and qualifications.
