Senior Data Analyst - London
About The Role
We are seeking a Senior Data Analyst to join our client's Data & Analytics team. This role is ideal for someone with a strong technical foundation, a passion for solving complex problems, and a deep understanding of financial and client behavioural data. You will be responsible for delivering high-impact data analysis, automating reporting processes, and implementing scalable solutions that support strategic decision-making across financial advisory services that support their UK and European businesses. This role is a 12 month contract, operating on a hybrid basis from the client's London office.
Key Responsibilities
- Executive level story telling & reporting to influence strategic decisions.
- Perform advanced data analysis to uncover insights across financial, sales, and client behavioral datasets.
- Design and implement scalable data solutions and automated reporting workflows.
- Develop models and dashboards that track client engagement, sales performance, and behavioral trends.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Ensure data quality through validation, reconciliation, and transformation of structured and unstructured data.
- Document processes and create user-friendly guides for automated tools and reports.
- Mentor junior analysts and contribute to team knowledge sharing.
About You
- Minimum 5+ years of data analytics experience in investment management, finance, or a related domain.
- A quantitative degree (e.g., Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Finance) is a plus.
- Solid understanding of financial instruments, portfolio analytics, and performance reporting is a plus.
- Ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.
Technical Skills
- Expert Proficiency in SQL and Python for managing unstructured data, cleaning, visualization, storytelling at executive level, statistical analysis & model development
- Expert level Tableau and PowerBI for seamless storytelling, visualisations & user experience at executive level
Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to assess the full scope of a problem and develop scalable, maintainable solutions.
- Focus on best practices, code efficiency, and pipeline optimization.
- Experience in data quality assurance, validation, and reconciliation.
- Ability to work with unstructured or semi-structured data and transform it into usable formats.
- Experience analyzing client behavioral data, including segmentation, engagement metrics, and conversion analysis.
Collaboration and Communication
- Strong stakeholder collaboration skills to gather requirements and align on deliverables.
- Effective communication to explain technical solutions to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to document processes and create user-friendly guides for automated tools.
- Experience working in cross-functional teams (e.g., Finance, Technology, Sales, Marketing, Data).
Additional Highly Desirable Attributes
- Develop SQL/Python scripts to automatically standardize and format complex, unstructured Excel files into clean, report-ready datasets.
- Replace manual reporting processes with scalable, automated workflows that improve accuracy and efficiency for the finance team.
- Experience with Agile methodologies or working in a product-oriented environment.
- Familiarity with data governance, metadata management, and compliance.
- Ability to mentor junior analysts or contribute to team knowledge sharing.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment with tight deadlines.
