Reception Teacher — Independent School — Wandsworth —...
An inspiring Independent School in Wandsworth seeks a reflective Reception Teacher to join its Early Years team on a Part-Time basis with a January 2026 start. This Part-Time Reception Teacher role offers meaningful classroom responsibility combined with a sustainable workload. The successful Reception Teacher will begin handover and planning prior to the January 2026 start, attend induction during the January 2026 start, and teach from the January 2026 start on a Part-Time timetable agreed at interview.
The role — what the Reception Teacher will do
As Reception Teacher you will design high-quality continuous provision that balances child-led exploration with focused adult-led sessions. The Reception Teacher will deliver daily phonics, language-rich activities and early maths experiences. The Reception Teacher will assess progress against the Early Learning Goals, work closely with families and prepare children for transition into Year 1. Although the role is Part-Time, the Part-Time Reception Teacher will be fully included in planning, moderation and CPD from the January 2026 start.
Why join this Independent School as Reception Teacher?
This Independent School values early childhood development and teacher wellbeing. The Reception Teacher will receive mentor support from the January 2026 start, access to specialist resources and opportunities for professional growth. The school’s approach ensures the Part-Time Reception Teacher participates in whole-school events and parental workshops that occur around the January 2026 start. The timetable for the Part-Time Reception Teacher is designed to provide protected planning time and meaningful impact in the classroom.
Person specification — Reception Teacher
We seek a Reception Teacher with QTS or EYTS, early years experience and a commitment to play-based, evidence-informed practice. The ideal Reception Teacher is nurturing, organised and skilled at adult–child interactions. The Reception Teacher will be ready to engage with pre-term planning before the January 2026 start, to join induction sessions in the January 2026 start window, and to teach as a Part-Time Reception Teacher from the January 2026 start.
